History of legal education

Legal education is very prominent part of the legal system of a country.Legal education is a method it will make easy to understand legal system and law very easy.Usaually legal system is guided by some ideology as well as philosophical,political and economic theory.Legal education is a foremost idea for knowledge and understanding about it.there is a close nexus between legal system and legal education.Every state implement certain legal system as well as certain educational system that initiate human civilization and social development.Legal education is said to be one of the most essential parts of social life because law governs and regulates the society,without appropriate laws in socity cannot be possible to control and regulate the human behaviours.So law is compulsive and its necessity is realized as a must.Every person should be abided by law everywhere.particular places and particular situation they have to follow different and special law.if anybody conduct misconduct or illegal activity in ignorance of law ,cannot be excused.“Ignorance of law is not excuse´´ this is a cardunal principle of law and derogation and non observance of it is not permitted at any rate.that means,state should ensure the justified laws,and legal awareness among the people about the prevalent laws,or existing laws of the country.The doctrine of rule of law, constitutionalism, separation of powers,independence of judiciary or democratic system of governance is possible only through the imparting of proper legal education to the learners. So legal education is a vehicle of social changes as well a ladder of the countrys economic and political advancement.legal education in modern era of justice and human rights should not be overemphasized.so legal eduction is said to be bedrock or cornerstone of any social civilization and a cultured society.A countrys prosperity depends on the degree of observance of law. If we need to have a high degree of record of law implementation legal education is a must.legal education is also directly related with justice and social progress peace and good governance. The cannon and ecclesiastical law were studied in universities in medieval Europe.However institutions providing education in the domestic law of each country emerged later in the eighteen century. In England legal education emerged in the late thirteen century through apprenticeships. The Inns of court controlled admission to practice and also provided some legal training English universities had taught Roman and canon law gor some time, but formal degrees focused on the native common law did not emerge until the 1800s. The Bar Council of India prescribes and supervise standard of legal education of india. Law degrees in India are granted and conferred in terms of the Advocates Act 1961,legak which is a law passed by the parliament both on the aspect of legal education and regulation of conduct of legal profession. Various regional universities or specialised nation law universities offer law graduate degrees through various law schools.
In Nepal law college was established in 2011.Traditional legal education which was imparted through Shrestha pathshala was not sufficient to meet the needs of the time. The political changes of 1950 cause restructuring in every field of social sector.Nepal law college(present Nepal Law Campus-NLC)was established in 1954 to produce necessary human resource in legal sector as per the need of the country.in 1971 National education system plan was implemented with the objectives of producing necessary completent humaa resources at different levels in different areas to meet the countrys needs and requirements. It significantly made a great breaktrough in the legal education system. In 1972 the institute of law introduced a two year certificate level (CL) programme and a three year Diploma in law (DL) programme. In 1980-1986 Tribhuvan university underwent a massive change consequently the institute of law concerted into the Faculty of Law. A two year Certificate level (CL) programme and a three year Diploma in law programme were renamed as proficiency certificate in law (PCL) programme and bachelors degree in la# (BL) programme respectively. Three are two Research Centers at the Faculty of law. These are(I) center for human rights and (II) center for environmental law (CEL) Nepal. These Research center are entrusted to conduct research and promote legal research and education. The Centers also conduct seminars workshop and talk programmes I the respective area. The research committee is entrusted to conduct research activities and promote quality research in the field of law. There is a seven-member research committee headed by the Dean. There are three other law colleges which are offering LLB and LLM classess they are National law college Kathmandu school of law and ChakravartI Ha. Bi College.
